Momma’s Boys

Just saw this write up about NBC’s Momma’s Boys and thought it was pretty spot-on.
Momma’s Boys will never make it to a second season, but that doesn’t matter, it is just like the droves of sensationalist, sex driven television before it. It is tittlating television that garners the day after discussions that drive ratings in a rough television market.

Thanks for the mention. I forgot to include the question, do you think that they only included the Jewish mother and son combo just to satisfy the stereotype of an overbearing and guilt enducing Jewish mother?
The other two “bachelors” are attractive and pretty charasmatic, whereas the Jewish guy is pretty aloof and pretty hideous. So he sticks out like a sore thumb in comparison.
I definitely agree that those two are on the show to fulfill stereotypes. But I think the same thing about a lot of the black girls, and ditzy blondes on the show. I think EVERYONE on reality shows is cast because they fulfill some kind of character type and that casting directors do this to avoid “wasting time” on developing characters. If you see a blonde chick with huge fake boobs and a too-tight minidress on, you assume she’s a moron. They play to this by casting dumb blondes with fake boobs in ridiculously short skirts who are, in fact, idiots.
Plus, I think they cast the Jewish dude and his mom to be the “ethnic” dudes on the show. It wouldn’t be very interesting to watch a zillion Abercrombie-looking douches hit on stupid chicks, so they throw in a wild card to be like the comic relief. Every show does this.
Ugh, reality tv can be more formulaic than the dumbest sitcoms!
